Today’s blog post is very near and dear to my heart. I have been planning this travel guide for you for awhile now and have finally put it all together one lovely little blog post on the internet! So without further ado….Today, I am introducing you to my hometown of Milford, Connecticut!
My husband, Cameron and I moved here in 2017 from Central California for a job opportunity. We bought a two- hundred year old farm house (that we had never seen in real life until the day we pulled up to the driveway with out moving truck) and moved our life and two furry pups across the country to the quaint and charming town of Milford, Connecticut. Milford is a sweet blend of historic small town meets new modern day amenities. We have the most beautiful historic downtown which I will show you more of in the below guide but also have modern amenities like a Trader Joes, Whole Foods, and Costco just five minutes away. We love that we can ride our bikes from our home to the beach or to grab a bite to eat in downtown on a Friday night.
24 Hours in Milford, CT:
9am: Start at Duck Pond in Historic Downtown Milford and walk to “The Corner Restaurant” for breakfast. Be sure and try the stuffed french toast – it’s unreal!
10:30am: Walk around downtown and meander through the cute shops! Make your way down to the town green and stop for a photo op at the cutest Gazebo. At this point you are right by Scratch Baking Co, so head on over for some tea and bakery items ( I love the raspberry and corn muffins!).
1:00pm: Head over to the Milford Landing Marina and grab an ice cream at Scoopy Doo’s and watch the boats go by. While you are there take a walk over Hotchkiss Bridge.
2:00pm: Next up is the beach! Head on over to Gulf Beach nearby and spend some time along the shoreline relaxing! Want more excitement? We love kayaking to Charles Island which you will see from the shoreline! Another wonderful option is sailing along Long Island Sound – YES, PLEASE.
5:30pm: At this point you may be getting hungry and want to grab a bite to eat. I suggest heading back into downtown and trying one of the many restaurants Milford has to offer – don’t forget happy hour! 🙂
7:00pm: At this point you are fed and happy and it’s time to watch some local theater! Head on over to The Milford Arts Center and BYOB wine and cheeses with your pals!
9:00pm: Still up for some fun?! Now walk on over to Stonebridge Restaurant or Eli’s Tavern for a fun lively night scene!
11:30pm: Time to catch your train home or hit the hay. Hope you had a great day in this sweet coastal New England town!
I hope you enjoyed looking through this guide and images of this sweet town! There are so many places I feel like I could still list but I guess the best thing about a travel guide is it serves as sounding board for you to start from and then find more things along the way! Now it’s your turn – please let me know in the comments section what other great places you like to shop, dine and play in Milford, Connecticut!
*Also, a huge shout out to my neighbor and friend Natalie of The New England Foodie for restaurant recs! Go check her out on Instagram!!
