As a local, I know some great spots to do portrait sessions away from the hustle and bustle. I recently had the pleasure of photographing The Anderson family during their Oahu Hawaii vacation. Between the sand, waves, and sea shells, we had the perfect backdrop to capture Hawaii’s beauty.
Their adorable son, Sterling, was initially hesitant about the sand and ocean at the beginning of the shoot. But the sweetest moment unfolded before our eyes when a local mother and her daughter came over to play with Sterling to help ease his worry about the sand! In no time, Sterling was laughing and playing with the rocks and sand, creating the perfect moments to capture sweet images like these.
The Anderson family connected with me through one of my dearest friends, Lisa. Jaime, Sterling’s mom, is Lisa’s sister. Having that extra connection made this session personal and special!
I have always found it fascinating that, as photographers, we have a unique opportunity to preserve a moment in time. Children grow up in a blink of an eye, one minute, you are on a family vacation in Hawaii, playing with them in the sand, and the next, you send them off to college. Having the ability to give my clients these memories is one of the many reasons I find my job rewarding.
